# Manage the institution licence

Import signed licence decisions without an internet connection from the installation.

## 1. Review licence status

On Institution licence, review the start, expiry, remaining period and whether new transaction observation is enabled. A future period is shown separately. The licence covers the institution’s environments.

## 2. Export a request

Use Download licence request file to obtain the institution/installation request. Send it to the Sigillum licence administrator through an approved channel. The installation does not need to contact an internet licence server.

## 3. Import the signed file

Select the supplied .sigillum-license, .json or .lic file under Signed Sigillum licence file, then choose Validate and apply. The server verifies the signature, institution/installation binding and decision revision. The file must be non-empty and no larger than 32 KiB. Revocation requires an additional confirmation.

## When the licence is inactive

New observation can be disabled while existing-record review and evidence downloads remain available. Future periods, expiry, revocation and clock rollback are distinct states. Do not edit another institution’s file to make it valid. A renewal or revocation cannot take effect immediately in an isolated installation before its decision is imported.
